Stellisons History
Stellisons Electrical, Commercial and Appliance Force are part of a family run business with branches in Benfleet, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Colchester, Hornchurch, Westcliff and a dedicated Kitchen centre in Benfleet and superstore in Ipswich.
Tony Scogings launched the business along with Tom Goddard, proudly opening their first store in 1961 on London Road, at the top of Bread and Cheese Hill, Benfleet. In 1980 Tom sold his share to Tony and the Scogings family continued to build on solid foundations to develop the now well established and trusted domestic and commercial electrical retail and service name across Essex and more recently, Suffolk, with the opening of the superstore in 2013.
There have been many changes over the years, since the opening of Bread and Cheese Hill, with the addition of 7 more stores, the installations and repairs service, the commercial arm, dealing with large organisation laundry, dishwashing and ironing and the interiors side with kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, wardrobes and interior doors.
The service and installations side has grown since it's beginnings when Tony used to lease domestic appliances. The story started with an appliance being dropped at the bottom of the street and passed along houses until Tony picked it up at the top of the street at the end of the week, to return serviced and in full working order another day.
Stellison are proud of its name and its staff with an experienced retail salesforce, proficient in the knowledge of their products, fully qualified and registered electrical and gas engineers, up to the minute IT specialists, professional recognition by major manufacturers and continued success in electrical and retail awards.
A story of hard work and experience paying off with a true family business delivering excellent service for over 50 years.
